Rethinking learning and teaching design in the age of AI: Sociomaterial and posthumanist perspectives

October 22, 2025 | CTL

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is excited to invite you to our upcoming workshop, Rethinking learning and teaching design in the age of AI: Sociomaterial and posthumanist perspectives.

Workshop Description:

AI is becoming an increasingly present force in our everyday lives, including in how we teach and learn. While much attention is given to what AI can do for us, how AI reconfigures the very routines, relationships, and assumptions that shape education has yet to receive attention.

This workshop invites educators to engage with AI not as a neutral tool, but as an active participant in our pedagogical entanglements. Through a series of guided, hands-on activities, we will explore how AI intra-acts with teaching and learning practices, and what this means for assessment, creativity, and knowledge-making.

Drawing on emerging theoretical perspectives such as posthumanist and sociomaterial approaches, we'll address new questions about agency, authorship, and learning, while also developing practical strategies and skills for working with AI in everyday learning and teaching.

Workshop Details:

Date: Tuesday, October 28th
