Frequently Asked Questions 

Q: Are all faculty required to use Simple Syllabus?

Yes, all faculty (full time and Adjunct) are required to use the Simple Syllabus.

Q: Where do the Course level SLO's come from that populate the syllabus?

The Course level SLO's are presented as they are entered on the Course Outlines on file in each college.

Q: What is the deadline to have all syllabi uploaded into Simple Syllabus?

The deadline for the full time faculty for Fall 2025 is by June 26th with revisions/updates (please see page 5) accepted until August 10th.

Q: Can I use a past syllabus to create my upcoming semester Syllabus?

Yes, please see page 2 of Using the Publisher to Create Syllabi Table of Contents for step by step instructions.

Q: Can I access Simple Syllabus through Canvas?

Yes, you can access your Simple Syllabus through Canvas. Please see an example here.

Q: What do faculty do if there is no textbook required for the course?

In the textbook field you must enter "No textbook required". (A required component cannot be left blank.)

Q: Can you save what you've uploaded prior to submitting?

Simple Syllabus saves your entries as you enter them. It is recommended to submit a complete component before leaving the site.

Q: Can you go back and edit a syllabus?

Yes. Go to the "Published" tab and click on the pen icon to edit the published syllabus. Please see page 5 for detailed instructions. Please note to inform your Executive Director/Chair/Coordinator (whomever is assigned to approve your syllabus) that they would need to review/approve the new submission. 

Q: Will Simple Syllabus be compatible with Canvas?

Yes, further information will be provided as Canvas is implemented. Simple Syllabus automatically upload to Canvas. The link to the published syllabus can be shared and added to Canvas.

Q: Does Simple Syllabus connect to Interfolio?

Simple Syllabus does not connect to Interfolio.

Q: When did utilization of Simple Syllabus begin?

Simple Syllabus was implemented in Spring 2022 semester.
