Call for Participation in the "FLTRP·ETIC Cup" National Foreign Language Contest and Recruitment for the WKU English Competition Team
We are thrilled to announce the 2025 "FLTRP·ETIC CUP" "Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Contest for College Students has officially kicked off! Please find the details below:
I. Contest Overview
The "FLTRP·ETIC CUP" "Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Contest for College Students is one of the most prestigious events in China, evaluating students' language proficiency and overall competence. Established by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), it aims to cultivate linguistic talents with both a domestic and an international perspectives, while fostering a deeper understaing of China among college students.
The contest is open to all full-time undergraduate and graduate students, including international students studying in China, featuring a three-tier structure: the university-level preliminary, the provincial semifinal, and the national final. The English Language Center will organize the preliminary round, including three categories: Translation, Interpreting, and Comprehensive Ability.
II. University Preliminary Round Schedule

The preliminary round also serves as a recruitment platform for the English Competition Teams (ECT). Students eager to improve their English skills and compete are encouraged to join the team and receive regular training.

Three contest briefing sessions will be held on Sept. 3 (Wed.) to help you better understand the contest (each session lasts about 30 minutes):
Venue: B302a, GEH
Time: 10:00 / 14:30 / 15:30 (same content, attend one session only)

In the university-level preliminary, Gold, Silver, and Bronze prizes will be awarded to the top 5%, 15%, and 25% of participants, respectively. All winners will receive a gift from the ELC, and the Gold Prize winners will receive a WKU Bear Mascot.

The university preliminary of Publish Speaking category was held in the spring 2025.
III. Registration
All contestants are required to complete the registration process on the official website (https://ucc.fltrp.com) before they participate in the contest.

IV. About the ECT
Founded in late 2020 under the supervision of the English Language Center and with the support of WKU faculty, the English Competition Team (ECT) has quickly grown into a dynamic community of nearly 100 talented students from the English Speaking/Debate Team and the Translation/Interpreting Teams. Dedicated to sharpening students’ professional English skills, the ECT not only prepares members for local, provincial, and national competitions but also inspires personal growth and confidence. In just a few years, the team has achieved remarkable success — winning 35 national-level awards, 18 regional-level awards, and 111 provincial-level awards.
