Wenzhou-Kean University (www.wku.edu.cn) (WKU) is a Chinese-American jointly established higher education institution with independent legal person status. On March 31, 2014, the Ministry of Education of China approved the establishment of Wenzhou-Kean University. In July 2014, the establishment of Wenzhou-Kean University was listed as one of the achievements of the Fifth Round of China-U.S. High-level Cultural Exchanges, which is Zhejiang Province’s only educational project on the list. In June 2018, the Chinese Ministry of Education and Zhejiang Province listed WKU as one of the exemplary China-foreign cooperative universities, supporting it to become “an internationalized and world-class university”. In November 2019, WKU was approved to offer master’s and doctoral programs.
Wenzhou-Kean University is dedicated to the mission of “providing students with different ways of development” by using educational resources, philosophy and academic rigor from an internationally focused university in the United States. WKU is anchored to the local community and the larger Chinese society and strives to meet the economic and cultural needs of both. In all that it does, WKU strives for excellence to provide a world-class education.
The campus of Wenzhou-Kean University is located in a beautiful township called Li’ao in Wenzhou -- one of the renowned hometowns of overseas Chinese. Covering an area of 494 acres in land planning, the University currently has about 5,300 on-campus students.
Kean University

Kean University is accredited to confer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

*Tuition is contingent upon the fee structure sanctioned by the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
*The above tuition refer the entire program tuition cost for completing the minimum required credits during the course of study. Additional tuition will be charged for pre-requisite/bridge courses if required upon acceptance; tuition will also be charged for non-required courses which students register personally.
How to Apply
Step 1: Register for using the WKU Graduate Application System (ga.wku.edu.cn) and fill out the required information in the system.
Step 2: Complete and submit the application via the Kean University Graduate Application System.
Step 3: Follow up on relevant notifications regarding application progress and admission decision are found in the WKU Graduate Application System.

Required Application Materials
Master's Programs
1.Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited college or university
● Applicants, if graduated from mainland China institutions, must submit an evaluation of their official university degree by China Credentials Verification (https://www.chsi.com.cn/).
● Applicants, if not graduated from either U.S. institutions or mainland China institutions, must submit a course-by-course evaluation of their official university degree by the National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES) (http://www.naces.org).
2.Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (candidates with under a 3.0 will be considered based on the strength of the overall application)
● Applicants, if graduated from mainland China institutions, must submit an evaluation of their official university transcript by China Credentials Verification.
● Applicants, if not graduated from either U.S. institutions or mainland China institutions, must submit a course-by-course evaluation of their official university transcript by the National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES).

Doctoral Program (Doctor of Educational Leadership)
1.Master’s degree and Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited college or university

English Proficiency Requirements
1.Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Minimum Score: Internet-based: 79; Paper-based: 550; MYBEST SCORE results are accepted.
2.International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Minimum Score: 6.5; ONE SKILL RETAKE results are accepted.
3.Duolingo English Test
Minimum Score: 105.
*Please note that English proficiency test scores are only valid for two years from the date of the test.
GRE/GMAT/MAT Requirements
Please refer to the individual requirements of each program. Scores of GRE General Test at home are acceptable.
Graduate Fellowships and Assistantships
Wenzhou-Kean University offers graduate fellowships and assistantships. Both full-time and part-time applicants are eligible to be awarded graduate fellowships and assistantships. Specific results will be included in the final acceptance letter.
Application Deadline
Applications for the 2026 graduate programs will be accepted on a rolling basis, with a final application deadline of May 25, 2026. The entry semester for the 2026 cohort is Fall 2026. We encourage applicants to submit their applications for WKU graduate programs at their earliest convenience.
