Bioinformatics International Science and Technology Cooperation Center, Wenzhou‑Kean University (Zhejiang Provincial International Science and Technology Cooperation Base)

The Bioinformatics International Science and Technology Cooperation Center at Wenzhou‑Kean University focuses on research and development in biomedicine and big data. Centered on research priorities including cancer biology, research and development of new antibiotics, and genetic signatures of virus‑triggered host inflammatory storms, it will continue to advance scientific cooperation with the United States and Belt and Road Initiative countries. It actively supports the development of the Wenzhou National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone and drives industrial transformation and upgrading in Wenzhou. At present, the center has 11 team members, all of whom are high‑level overseas talents with doctoral degrees.

Led by Dr. Yixin Yang, Academic Vice‑President of Wenzhou‑Kean University, this center was accredited as a 2020 Zhejiang Provincial International Science and Technology Cooperation Base. Provincial‑level International Science and Technology Cooperation Bases (hereinafter referred to as International‑Cooperation Bases) are institutional carriers such as enterprises, research institutes, institutions of higher learning, science and technology intermediaries, incubators and science and technology parks. They play a pivotal role in participating in Belt and Road Initiative science‑technology innovation cooperation, advancing international technology transfer, undertaking international science‑technology cooperation tasks and improving Zhejiang’s capacity for international science‑technology cooperation. They also possess further development potential and exemplary demonstration effects. As key backbone entities for Zhejiang to harness global science‑technology resources and engage in international scientific and technological competition and cooperation, International‑Cooperation Bases deliver important leading and exemplary impacts on the development of international science‑technology cooperation across Zhejiang Province.
