Notice on the 2025 Freshman English Speaking Competition
The 2025 Freshman English Speaking Competition is now open for registration. Please find the key details below:
Competition Format
The competition consists of three rounds, with 30 contestants advancing to the second round and 15 to the final round.
Round 1: Submit a 2-min video after 5 minutes of preparation. Venue: B411, GEH
Please choose one of the following sessions on Sept. 19:
18:30, 19:00, 19:30 or 20:00
Round 2: Deliver a 2-min impromptu speech after 10 minutes of preparation.
Time: 13:30 -15:00 (Sept. 27) Venue: B101, GEH
Round 3: Participate in a 2-minute Q&A session by answering two questions.
Time: 15:15 -16:00 (Sept. 27). Venue: B101, GEH

About the Competition
1. Winners will receive a certificate and gifts from the ELC, with awards distributed as follows:
1 Grand Prize, 4 First Prizes, 10 Second Prizes, 15 Third Prizes
2. Outstanding contestants or those demonstrating good English speaking potential may be invited to join the WKU speech/debate team.
3. This competition is only open for the freshmen of 2025.
