CONFERENCE THEME AND SUB-THEME

MAIN THEME: Reimagining Education for the 21st century

How would teaching and learning look like in 2040, when children born today would be entering colleges? Would there still be brick-and-mortar schools and colleges? Will there be any dramatic change in teaching as a profession? These are difficult questions, and it is not possible to give a precise answer to these questions. With sustained efforts from the government in most countries, more and more people are getting educated now. There is a great thirst for education that would equip students for the challenges of the 21st century. However, we are attempting to prepare students for a future world, the shape of which is not easy to perceive at this moment.
The pandemic has revigorated the persistent calls for addressing the disparities in education. While there is a consensus that for students to succeed in the future world, specific skills – called 21st-century skills – are required, there is little known about what shape and form these skills are to be taught or manifested.  It is time to rethink and reimagine an education system that caters to the present and future educational needs, for which students have already begun preparing in their early years of schooling.
Thus, the theme for this conference – Reimagining education for the 21st century is pertinent and timely. The conference intends to provide a forum for frank and open discussions to continue the ongoing in different parts of the world. We encourage presenters to approach their presentations from multiple perspectives and for every level of education, be it K-12, Undergraduate, post-graduate, or polytechnic colleges.

The two-day conference will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 23rd and 24th April 2021. Due to COVID-related travel restrictions, we have decided to organize this conference virtually. We are confident that our 2nd conference in April 2023 will be entirely in-person, where the participants will get the opportunity to meet other scholars in person.

There will be three keynote addresses by eminent scholars from the field of education. We will also conduct a symposium entitled ‘Publishing in High-Impact International Journals’, which will provide crucial information on publishing in high-impact journals. Senior editors of three international journals will participate in the symposium.

A detailed schedule for the conference will be posted on this page in March when we have received and accepted the submissions. So watch out for this space.

Originally known as Yongjia (Chinese: 永嘉), Wenzhou is the 15th largest city in China and is considered the manufacturing hub of China. It is located in the southeastern part of China, in the Zhejiang province. Zhejiang province is the southernmost province of China, mostly mountainous and lies along the East China Sea. The population of Wenzhou is 9.2 million people, with more than 3 million living in its urban areas.  The city is well connected with other parts of the country through high-speed trains, buses, and planes. With the high-speed train, it takes a little more than three hours to Shanghai. The city has an excellent public transport system with buses connecting every part of the city. There is a metro line as well, called S1, while two additional lines are under construction.

Wenzhou is famous for its beautiful landscape with numerous mountains, lakes, and rivers spread around its length and breadth. It is gradually becoming one of the prominent tourist destinations due to its natural beauty, rich history, and unique culture. The weather is pleasant throughout the year except in summer when it becomes relatively hot in July-August at 32-34 degrees. While Wenzhou could be visited any time of the year, the best time to visit would be during spring in late March to early May when the city and surrounding area becomes colorful with numerous flowers. The scenery is breathtaking!

There are numerous attractions for tourists in Wenzhou and nearby areas. Yangdang Mountain in Yueqing County of Wenzhou is among the top ‘Must See’ places in China. It has received the highest national rating of ‘AAAAA’ as a tourist spot in China. The mountains have awesome peaks, waterfalls, valleys and have a beautiful natural lake at the top. You can’t visit Wenzhou and not visit this awesome place! If you are interested in natural reserves, you would want to visit Wuyanling Nature Reserve. It covers almost 80 square miles of area and is the home of more than 2000 plant species and several rare animals. On your lucky day, you might get a glimpse of clouded leopard, stump-tailed monkeys, or even the rare bellied Tragopan!
