Dr. Min Wang is an assistant professor in TESOL and Bilingual Education at Wenzhou-Kean University. Her research interests include, but are not limited to, second language acquisition, multimodality and semiotics, English language learners’ identities, multiculturalism and multilingualism, and linguistic racism. She published 12 articles in internationally recognized journals. Her recent book, Multimodalities and Chinese students’ L2 practices: Positioning, agency, and community, explored the complicated interactions among multimodality, positioning, and agency in increasingly digitized, multilingual, and multicultural contexts in and through which Chinese international students practiced their L2 literacies. Positioned as cultural, linguistic, and digital beings, these L2 learners assumed rights, obligations, and expectations to become legitimate community members. In the process of becoming, their agency was negotiated, promoted, or sometimes restricted by micro-social structures and ongoing discourse of power.
Dr. Wang serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Asian Pacific Communication and is a Sitting Advisory Board member for NYS TESOL Journal. She is also a reviewer for several academic journals, such as Journal of Language, Identity & Education and Journal of Literacy Research. Dr. Wang reviewed a book proposal titled Multimodal literacies for multimodal identities: Education in times of digitalization and global crises for Routledge in 2020. Dr. Wang is a reviewer for national and international conference proposals, including those hosted by American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) and American Educational Research Association (AERA). Dr. Wang also serves on the Narrative SIG Dissertation Committee for AERA and the Best Dissertation Award Committee for National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE). She is a former SIG Chair and now she is the Advisory Board Chair at NABE.
