• Developed and established the Newark Public Schools’ Gateway Academy—an alternative school for adjudicated youth—in collaboration with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Parole Department and NJ State Juvenile Justice System as well as the NJ County Superintendent’s Office and the Newark Police Department. (1997)
• Testified as a second language acquisition expert in the NJ State Supreme Court case of Abbott v. Burke and as an advocate for NJ Bilingual/ESL students at the request of Dr. Marilyn Morhauser, Executive Director of the Education Law Center. (1986)
• Developed the first K-12 Haitian Bilingual Program in NJ and worked as an expert with state officials to develop Haitian/Creole as the official language of Haitian Students. Was a member of the NJ State Advisory Board on Bilingual Education. (1980)
• Appointed to the Executive Board of PAL-Pet Adoption League of Hackettstown, NJ, a no kill/not for profit organization (2013) whose goal is to save, rehabilitate and find suitable homes for abandoned felines and dogs.
• NCATE Accreditation: Spearheaded and Achieved NCATE accreditation for the Department of Educational Leadership, Kean University/Union, NJ. (2012)
• Choirmaster of Greek Orthodox Choirs in New Jersey: Church of the Annunciation/Philadelpia, PA; St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Newark, NJ (now in Union, NJ), St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church, Randolph, NJ (18 years) and Youth Advisor for GOYA Sights and Sounds (5 years). (Established new standards for hymnals and competitions for churches and youth including Gospel singing.)

• PROJECT GRAD: Spearheaded program-Graduation Really Achieves Dreams – as Assistant Superintendent of SLT III in Newark for 8 of the 16 schools in collaboration with the Ford Foundation, Business establishments and Community. Appeared in several documentaries to promote program on TV and in other states. Became a national program in 2000.
• Newark District Liaison to the first two Charter Schools in New Jersey and assisted in their establishment including financing. Appeared in documentary on TV to explain initiative. (1996)
• Established the first high school program in Newark District for Deaf Students and developed Signing to become a second language in the district with approval from NJDOE. (1997)

• U.S. 21st Century Schools Program, Newark Public Schools, 1997. $5.2 million awarded. A collaborative community-school project that focused on after-school programs in the schools.
• NJ/SSI-Thrust II National Science Foundation Grant, Kittatiny Consortium Regional District, 1994 – 1997. $280,000 was awarded for improving the teaching and learning of science and mathematics for the five school districts in the Kittatiny Consortium Regional District. The program was supported by faculty from the mathematics and science departments of Rutgers University and Stevens Institute of  Technology, and also involved Drexel University in Philadelphia.
• NJ/SSI-Thrust I National Science Foundation Grant, Fredon Township Public School District, 1992 – 1995. $200,000 was awarded for preparing students for the science/math/technology environment of the future and to introduce viable computer programs to students for the first time. The program,  which included the Robotics Project through Drexel University of Philadelphia, placed the Township School students far beyond all of their peers in other county schools.
• Governor’s Grant for Excellence in Science/Mathematics, Fredon Township Public School District, 1991- 1993. $150,000 was awarded for this program which was supported by RJR Nabisco and the New Jersey State Department of Education along with Rutgers University. A science lab was built with the grant monies.
• RST2 (Revitalizing Science Teaching through Remote Sensing Technology), Fredon Township Public School District, 1994. The award provided experts (meteorologists) from Washington, D.C. and equipment to establish a weather station at the school in collaboration with Ramapo College.
• City Schools of Excellence, Orange, NJ, 1989. $50,000 was awarded to support innovative school programs.
