  • Zhejiang Kean Institution of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship

Wenzhou-Kean University, cooperating with the government, universities, research institutions, non-governmental organizations and other related organizations of New Jersey, founded Zhejiang-Kean Institution of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship. The institution focuses on attracting overseas high-level talents and introducing science and technology programs into strategic emerging industries. These aim at making full use of North-American talent resources in science and technology; creating platforms for Sino-US talent introduction, business incubators, industrial and financial investments, entrepreneurs’ friendship building and talent resources; promoting Sino-US cooperation in science, technology, economics and trade; contributing to regional economic and social development. Additionally, the institution makes connections with economic and technological development zones, new and high technology industry development zones, industry clusters, university science parks and enterprises to provide services for transferring technical achievements. At the same time, it offers science and technology companies and high and new technology industries a range of supporting services, involving the science information and management counseling, personnel training, exchanges in science, technology, economy and trade, as well as services for financial investment.

  • Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) – Wenzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone (WETDZ) Strategic Cooperation Platform

In order to deepen the strategic industry-university-research (IUR) cooperation between the university and the local government, to promote the sharing of high-quality resources between the two sides, and to enhance regional innovation capabilities, the management committee of Wenzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone (WETDZ) and Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) have developed an all-round cooperation in economy, trade, scientific research, innovation, entrepreneurship, personnel training, internship, employment and decision-making consultation. In scientific research cooperation, companies in the development zone are encouraged to cooperate with WKU to establish laboratories and R&D centers, and actively introduce high-tech talents and projects from American universities and research institutions to develop and implement innovation projects in science and technology.

The management committee will priorly provide these cooperated projects with district level financial support as well as support the declaration of R&D centers and technology projects of all levels and all kinds. In order to promote the development of innovation and entrepreneurship, the overseas entrepreneurship parks, business incubators, and maker spaces give priority to offering opportunities for WKU students to start up business. Students’ enterprises will also enjoy preferential policies for business incubators and other related areas. Up till now, ten Wenzhou-Kean University international talents fieldwork bases such as Penta-Chutian Laser (Wenzhou) Co.,Ltd have been established. Also, WKU — Makepower Electronic Joint Research Center and WKU – ERKN Biology Research & Development Lab have been established. Ten outstanding Entrepreneurs have been hired to work as business startup tutors in Wenzhou-Kean University Makerspace.

  • Wenzhou-Kean University – Hangzhou Shangcheng District Strategic Cooperation Platform

On Jun 7th 2018, Hangzhou Shangcheng District signed the strategic cooperation agreement with Wenzhou-Kean University. Taking the advantage of Zhejiang Kean Institution of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, the two sides will spare no effort to promote innovation in science and technology through incubating five collaborative platforms.

The five collaborative platforms:

Science and technology talent recruitment platform

It gives full play to the resource advantages of universities, governments, research institutions and non-governmental organizations, and focus on introducing a number of overseas high-level talents and teams that can drive the development of high-tech and emerging industries

Incubation and entrepreneurship platform

An overseas innovation incubator center will be built in New Jersey, USA, and Kean Youth Maker Center will be built in the Entrepreneurship Center of Shangcheng District. The focus is on introducing a number of Chinese and American technology entrepreneurs to create a technology-based, high-growth enterprise in Shangcheng District.

Industry and investment platform

It will actively build a Sino-U.S. entrepreneurship friendship platform, promote communications and contacts between Chinese and American Chambers of commerce and entrepreneurs, and organize visits between Chinese and American organizations and enterprises from time to time to promote economic and trade cooperation and exchanges.

High-tech research platform

It will offer opportunities for Chinese and American wisdom to conduct research in economics, humanities and other disciplines. Each year, the two sides will cooperate to hold influential public events such as international academic forums and conferences.

International talent cultivation platform

It will actively explore the mode of jointly cultivating innovative talents.
