CLA Core Course Series | COMM 2403 Video Production

Video production course is one of the highlights of the communication major which provides students with high-quality equipment and rich practical activities to cultivate more outstanding communication talents and promote the rapid development of the new media industry. During their video production course, students learn video shooting, editing skills, and technical knowledge related to film and television production, such as white balance, depth of field, MV, stop motion animation, etc. Just like the above short MV which shows some basic skills of communication major students, describes beautiful WKU in their eyes, and carries their dream of film and television.

The instructor of the course, Professor John Chua, advocates combining theory with practice. His students do a series of short films about life in Wenzhou, as they are interested in revealing stories of daily life for film and television. Professor Chua has been studying the market for Chinese students studying abroad and European films. Previously, he worked with director Steven Spielberg and has written, directed, and produced films distributed by some of the world’s biggest media outlets, including the BBC, Sony, and Universal Music. Has also won the Russian Academy Award and other high honors. He always encourages students to explore their own interests and talents and discover the value of their own existence.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of digital media technology, media-based society is gradually taking into shape. How to use the media to establish a certain relationship between people has been widely concerned by the society? Communication Studies (Public Relations) of Wenzhou Kean University focuses on cultivating international, cross-cultural, and interdisciplinary professionals in public relations coordination and public information communication. At WKU, Communication program will also help students gain meaningful internships such as working in local TV & Radio Center that will prepare them for future career.
