Teachers’ Day Tea Reception 2020

Teachers’ Day Tea Reception 2020 was held September 11th to award outstanding faculty in the academic year of 2019-2020 and provide an occasion for informal networking.

Vice Chancellor Xia Caiguo presided the Reception, announced the recipients of the awards. Later, WANG Beijiao, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Dr. WANG Li, Chancellor, presented awards to the winners.

Speaking on behalf of the winners, Vincent Peu Duvallon, the assistant professor of College of Architecture & Design, said: “I feel lucky to work with so many excellent colleagues. I’m very glad to make a small contribution to the University. Thank you, every member of WKU family.” Another representative, assistant professor Huang Yaoyao, also came from the College of Architecture & Design, was confident in the future development of WKU because of its reliable faculty and leadership.

Vice Chancellor Eric Yang, winner of Chancellor’s Distinguished Awards, expressed his gratitude to the University in his acceptance speech. He said that WKU was a developing university. With more excellent staff joining in, more WKUers stepping into the world stage and ever-improving campus facilities, WKU would be better and better.

Chancellor Wang Li congratulated the winners. He pointed out that WKU was in rapid development, which would provide a greater stage for faculty to display their talents. He then mentioned three requirements: First, talents cultivation should be student-centered; second, scientific research should be vigorously developed while ensuring the quality of teaching; third, the importance of teachers’ morality. Chancellor Wang said that China’s education was promising and it was glorious to be a good teacher.

It is reported that Vice Chancellor Eric Yang, Professor Jerry Choi of the CBPM and Meng Jun, Secretary General of the Foundation, generously donated prizes to support students’ scientific research and campus facilities construction.
