Born in 1976, Tiezhu DONG is a Hangzhou native, and currently an Associate Professor at Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC). Dr. Dong received his Ph. D from the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, University of California at Berkeley. Before joining UIC, he had taught at Berkeley and Wofford in the United States. Focusing on Chinese philosophy and literature, he has published The Role of Disguise in Early Chinese Culture and approximately 20 articles in both English and Chinese, including “From ‘Confucian’ to ‘Ru’: On the New Trend of the Study of Early Confucianism in USA” and “Copia and Bagu wen: A Hermeneutic Dilemma” which are very influential. Dr. Dong is also an active writer with a few dozens fictions and prose published in China and oversea.
