Our University currently has approximately 522 domestic and foreign faculty members, including 222 full-time teachers from 43 countries and regions around the world. Over 79% of them are foreign nationals, and the majority have international teaching backgrounds and doctoral degrees. Moreover, each college has formed its own unique faculty system based on student needs, market talent requirements, and future development directions.

College of Liberal Arts

The College of Liberal Arts aims to stimulate and develop students’ thought processes and intellectual capabilities, and increase their abilities to consider, compare and communicate within a broad range of disciplines, traditions and world-views. Liberal arts students are inquisitive and insightful, and share a rich cultural understanding of the world in which they live. The majors and various elective courses available in the College promote three elements essential for success in the job market of the 21st Century: creativity, critical thinking and communication. In a world where people change careers an average of five times or more, the adaptability gained through a liberal arts education is invaluable.

College of Science, Mathematics and Technology

The motto Semper Discens which means endless learning, is engraved on the seal of Kean University and that is the goal of the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology. The undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by the college leverage on the strengths of Kean University and are programs that have increasing demand and recognition in China and abroad. The college is committed to providing quality education and extensive research opportunities to students across the fields of natural science, mathematics, and computer science. The college aims to inspire students to “climb higher” and fulfil their potential, by laying a solid scientific foundation for students and equipping students with the tools that will enable them to seamlessly launch their careers in their respective disciplines anywhere in the world. Through the elite education provided by the college, students will be imbued with critical thinking skills as they learn to create and innovate and become truly globalized citizens. The College of Science, Mathematics, and Technology has established close cooperations with research institutes, and private companies and enterprises, that provides valuable industrial experience that prepares students for the real world. As such, the college cultivates future scientists, data analysts, educators, and mathematicians who will assume leadership roles in technology and pharmaceutical companies, governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as in universities, and research institutes. Students will become agents of change who will make a tangible difference to science and society. In the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology, students and professors have consistently won scientific awards and have jointly published many articles in highly reputable journals. The college has also received national and international recognitions as exemplified by the recent establishment of the Zhejiang Bioinformatics International Science and Technology Cooperation Center, and the Wenzhou Municipal Key Lab for Applied Biomedical and Biopharmaceutical Informatics. Computer science, Mathematics and Applied mathematics (data analysis Option), Biology (Cell and Molecular Biology Option) have been recognized as Provincial First-class undergraduate Programs. The Computer Science Program is the 13th Five-Year Characteristic project of Zhejiang Province. There are 7 courses recognized as the provincial first-class courses in CSMT. The research programs of faculty in the college are supported by grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Zhejiang provincial Natural Science Foundation. In 2022 alone, faculty in the college have published 111 articles in SCI and SSCI listed journals translating to an average of 3.5 publications per faculty. Notably, the field-weighted citation impact (FWCI) of articles published by faculty in the college is 2.75 which means that they are cited 275% more frequently than the global average in their respective fields. As for students in the college, about 60% of them have been admitted into the world’s Top-100 universities in 2022 of which 47% gained admission into the world’s Top-50 universities. These are evidence of the teaching capability and scientific research strength of the college. Currently, the college offers two postgraduate programs: Biotechnology Science (M.S.) and Computer Information System (M.S.), and five undergraduate programs: Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences (Data Analytics Option), Biology (Cell and Molecular Biology Option), Environmental Science, Chemistry.

Michael Graves College

Michael Graves College is dedicated to taking design and architecture to a wider public audience. It is comprised of two schools, the School of Design and the School of Public Architecture.

College of Education

The College of Education is dedicated to cultivating professional talents with rich knowledge, vitality, and the ability of teaching and education administration in diverse environments. The college currently offers one doctoral program and two master’s programs, with a total of 102 students enrolled and 14 graduates from two cohorts of the master’s program.

The college currently has eight full-time faculty members, all of whom have international teaching and research backgrounds and doctoral degrees. Teachers and students have actively participated in regional and international academic forums, including the THU IOE Doctoral Student Forum, CamTESOL, and AsiaTEFL, and made presentations at conferences. They have applied for and obtained provincial and municipal research projects and published journal papers; carried out teacher-student research projects; established an academic writing center; and established research institutions such as the Wenzhou-Kean University Centre for Educational Research, Innovation and Development and the Wenzhou-Kean University Leadership in Education, Advancement and Diversity Research Institute.

The College of Education actively engages in cooperation with the community and local schools in Wenzhou, aiming to enhance the educational qualifications, teaching theories, and practical skills of local educational workers and teachers as well as deepen school-community educational cooperation. After graduation, students provide comprehensive support to local economic, technological, and social development and continue to provide outstanding front-line teacher resources for primary and secondary education and higher education in the region.

College of Business & Public Management

College of Business and Public Management at Wenzhou-Kean University is a dynamic learning environment dedicated to providing unique opportunities for both Chinese students and international learners. Globalization and the rapid diffusion of technological innovation present both opportunities and challenges to society. College of Business and Public Management seeks to provide an atmosphere which values high-quality faculty/student interaction and the production of intellectual contributions. Students can pursue careers in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Students also have great opportunities to take part in a vigorous internship and cooperative education program with regional businesses.
